Chiara Barbati received her doctoral degree in Iranian Studies from Sapienza University of Rome in 2009, after spending two years at the Turfan Studies research group at the Berlin-Brandenburg Academy of Sciences and Humanities. From 2009 to 2010 she worked at the Sapienza University of Rome and from 2010 to 2019 at the Institute of Iranian Studies at the Austrian Academy of Sciences. Since January 2020 she is senior researcher (RTDb) at the University of Pisa. Her research focuses on Middle Iranian languages and cultures along the Silk Roads, cultural translation studies, manuscript studies and eastern Christianity.
