The geological matrix which embeds cultural remains is an extraordinary source of information about human behaviour and environmental change. The objective of the Geoarchaeology course is to show the students what are the traces left by human behaviour, activities, cultures in the geological record of archaeological sites, and how Earth Sciences methods can be applied to and integrated into the study of Archaeology. Participants in the class are expected to acquire:
1) advanced training on Earth Sciences methods in the study of archaeological contexts;
2) in-depthknowledge of archaeological site formation processes;
3) ability in the contextualisation of archaeological sites within the landscape and its processes;
4) skills in integrating archaeological and geo-environmental data within complex interactions between human and environment.
