The Laboratory of Field Methods for Near Eastern Archaeology aims to provide students with the practical and theoretical knowledge to deal with an archaeological excavation in the Near East as well as the with the post-processing study of its materials. Starting with the methodologies used to deal with an initial approach to an excavation of an archaeological site, the students will move on to deal with the possible stratigraphic contexts that may be encountered, with the aim of being able to construct and analyze a stratigraphic and ceramic sequence. The workshop will include practical seminar activities in which students will be able to directly address issues of archaeological documentation and develop skills in delineating stratigraphic and ceramic phases.
